Our first official year of preschool at Saint Bernard's was a wonderful success. The kids all learned so much about one another and themselves. Obviously, sharing and learning to play kindly with one another is a huge part of preschool and the way all the children learned to use their words was fantastic! It was so awsome to hear the kids say "When you're done with that, can I have a turn?" I was so proud of all of them!
Our first PYP unit "The Circle of Life" was completed this spring. We learned how plants, animals and people all share the earth and depend on one another. We planted green beans, which the children brought home and replanted to eat for the summer. We read books and learned a lot about farms, the animals that come from the farm, what they eat, and what they provide for us. The questions that arose during the unit were so exciting to hear. The kids were very inquisitive and eager to discover more as we continued through the unit.
Next year we look forward to offering a full day program for both three and four year olds. We feel it will offer consistancy and structure for all of our young children. We will be visiting specialist (spanish, art, music, library, phy.ed.) every week as part of the PYP.
Please feel free to contact our admissions director for more information about Saint Bernard's Preschool Program.
Remember...reading to your children for 15 minutes a day promotes a love of reading and learning!! Have a safe, wonderful and joyful summer.
