Our graduating classes enjoy a tradition that began in 2005 involving small groups of seniors attending a luncheon in their honor held in the Parish Office conference room. This room is regularly used for donor lunches and business meetings. We wanted our seniors to have an experience of fine dining (food catered by Chef Jeff) and lively conversation encouraged by their hosts Mrs. Jennifer Cassidy, Mrs. Michelle Ponsolle and Father Michael Anderson. These lunches are sponsored by the Alumni Association as an introduction to what being an alumnus is all about. Groups of seven to nine students spend about an hour enjoying time in a smaller group and sharing their ideas about the education they have received at Saint Bernard's. Our seniors have a lot to say about their time here! They enjoy the smaller class size and the sense of community at Saint Bernard’s. They felt very positive about their senior retreat, and wished there could be some way for the freshmen to get that experience from the very start. They appreciate the teachers, coaches and staff and had a lot to say about the caring, friendly people and the values they have been taught. There were some things they did not feel so positive about dress code, lunch lines and the changes in the advisory time. Our graduates had some great ideas for us to look into that included a desire for the high school students to have more time to interact with the grade school students, wanting more outside speakers and an internship program of some kind. Mrs. Ponsolle shared with the students the importance of staying involved in the Saint Bernard's Community. Without our Alumni we cannot continue to grow and service the many students that come through our doors. Mrs. Cassidy commented how much we value the input from our seniors who have the "lived experience" of our school and its mission. Their feedback is always helpful as we continue to look to build on the positives of our school and also find ways to make the experience at Saint Bernard's school even better.
