MIDDLE SCHOOL PHYSICAL EDUCATION
6th Grade Physical Education
The 6th gradeers create their own hybrid sport. A hybrid sport is an activity created by combining two or more sports or activities. Students are required to not only come up with the rules of the game, but organize teams, are in-charge of the equipment both before and after the activity, and controlling the game during play. After each game students evaluate the games, give suggestions, and receive feedback from the "teacher."
7th Grade Physical Education
7th Grade students begin to take a deeper look at their attidudes towards physical fitness, play, and competition. After class each studet completes a form evaluating how they felt about their personal attitude, effort, and sportsmanship. They also take this opportunity to give feedback about how they felt about the activity and their classmates. Often this information is taken and discussed. Evaluating has helped students have empathy for each other, have a sense of ownership, and understand how others see them.
The 7th grade is also in-charge of Field Day for Preschool through fifth grade. This year the theme was "Field Day Around the World." Students in groups or individually researched games from other countries and cultures and presented these games to the younger students.
