Middle School English
Summer break is here and the students have certainly earned a break! However, this is a perfect time to catch up some great reading. Studies show that kids who read during the summer retain many more skills than they would if they took a three month break from it. I strongly encourage all middle school students to read over the summer. Choose books that are interesting to you or read a section of the newspaper everyday. This will help you stay sharp over the summer!
Writing is also a very important skill to practice over the summer. Write notes to your parents, grandparents, neighbors and teachers to let them know what you're up to over the vacation. Keep a journal to remember all of those special things that happen. Use complete sentences when you text or email!!! Word puzzles are a great way to keep those spelling skills sharp. Try the crossword, jumble or word find in the daily newspaper. You'll amaze your friends and family with your huge vocabulary and spelling skills!
It has been a fantastic year here at Saint Bernard's. We're already looking toward September and making plans. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone and hearing all about the adventures you have over the summer. Have a blast and be safe!
Sincerely, Mrs. Lucken Hills
